Staind는 Limp Bizkit의 Fred Durst가 발굴한 그룹.

그는 1997년 당시 무명이었던 스테인드의 공연을 보고 한 눈에 반해

Flip 레코드사에 적극 추천하여 세상 속으로 나오게 됩니다.

림프 비즈킷의 투어에 따라다니며 지명도를 쌓아나갔음은 물론입니다.

Staind라는 이름으로 괄목할 만한 성공 스토리를 보여주었던 그들의 데뷔앨범

<Dysfunction>은 1999년 4월에 Flip/Elektra 레이블을 통해 발매가 되었습니다.

그들은 앨범을 발매함과 동시에 수록곡인 'Just go', 'Mudshovel', 그리고 'Home'이라는

곡들이 락 전문 방송국들에서 히트를 하였음은 물론 후한 평을 듣게 됩니다.

 

2000년 Boston Music Award에선 5개 부문에 노미네이트 되기도 합니다.

보컬리스트인 Arron Lewis가 어쿠스틱 기타로 연주를 하고 노래를 부른

'Outside'란 곡이 Family Value Tour '99 라이브 앨범에 수록되었으며 그들의

두 번째 앨범인 <Break the Cycle>에 수록되어지기도 전에 라디오를 비롯한

각종 챠트에서 넘버원을 차지하는 Smash Hit를 기록하게 됩니다.

이런 성공가도를 달릴 수 있도록 여건을 만들어준 빼놓을 수 없는 인물 Fred Durst..
Arron Lewis의 보컬이 그를 감동시켜 여기까지 이끌어 주었는데 벤드 멤버들의

말에 의하면 헤비함 보다는 그들에게 유리한 멜로디를 사용할 수 있도록 조언한

인물이 바로 Fred 였다고 합니다...
