1997년 2000년에 재결성을 염두에 두고 엑스 재팬은 해체되었지만,

1998년 5월 히데의 죽음으로 사실상 이룰 수 없는 일이 되어버린다.

 

2007년 토시가 그의 웹 사이트에 다시 밴드에 참여할 의사를 밝히며,

엑스 재팬의 재결성 논의가 시작되었다. 토시는 요시키와 자신이 10년 만에

처음으로 “뉴 프로젝트”라는 이름의 공동 작업을 하고 있다고 밝혔다.

 

오랜 기간 소문만이 무성하다가 엑스 재팬 공식 사이트는 10월 18일에

엑스 재팬이 신곡과 함께 재결성되었다고 발표했다. 엑스 재팬은

2007년 10월 22일에 도쿄 오다이바의 쇼핑몰인 아쿠아 시티 위에서

만 여명의 팬들 앞에서 첫 라이브 공연을 선보였다.

 

해체 후 10년하고도 1개월만이었다...
