Morning Has Broken / Cat Stevens

 

 

 

 

본명은 Stephen Demetre Georgiou.  영국 태생.

직접 노래도 하고 작곡도 하는 이른바 Singer-song writer로,

그의 앨범은 전세계에서 4,000만 장 이상이 팔려나갔다.  

 

대표곡으로는 Morning has broken, Peace, Train, Moonshadow,

Wild World, Oh very young 등이 있다. 

 1977년, 그는 이름까지 Yusuf Islam(유수프 이슬람)으로 바꿔가며

이슬람교도로 개종해 팬들에게 충격을 안긴다.  

그리고 종교적 신념을 위해 Pop Star로서의 화려한 삶을 다 포기한다. 

팝계를 공식 은퇴한  것이다.

 

그는 아프리카 기아 문제에 관심이 많다.

그래서 Muslim Aid와 Small Kindness라는 자선 단체도 설립했다.
