프로그레시브 록 밴드 Uriah Heep

비록 몇몇 평론가들에게 혹평을 받기도 했지만 영국의 프로그
레시브 록 밴드인 Uriah Heep은 상업적으로 성공하였으며
상당한 컬트적인 인기를 모았다.

테크니컬한 헤비 록 사운드를 들려주었던 유라이어 힙은 지금까지
거의 30명에 이르는 멤버 교체와 두 명의 사망이 있었다는 점에서도
화제거리가 되곤 했던 그룹이다.

이들의 이름은 Charles Dickens의 소설 David Copperfield에 등장
하는 인물에서 따왔다고 한다. 유라이어 힙의 뿌리는 1960년대까지
거슬러 올라가며 그룹의 초기 멤버였던 David Byron(보컬)과
Mick Box(기타)는 The Stalkers라는 Cover Band에서 같이 연주를
시작했는데 그룹은 곧 해산되었다. 이들은 다시 Spice라는 그룹을
결성하였는데 이 그룹이 바로 유라이어 힙의 모체가 된다.
