 1970년대 후반부터 80년대까지 팝과 컨츄리, 가수와 영화배우를

넘나들며 성공을 거두었던 Kenny Rogers!

그가 대중들로부터 눈에 띄기 시작한 것은 1972년 솔로 아티스트로서 활동을

개시한 지 5년이 지난 1977년 싱글 [Lucille]을 발표하면서 부터입니다.
1970년대 후반부터는 스크린에도 손길을 뻗쳐 '갬블러', '카워드 오브 더 카운티' 등의

영화에 출연하고 주제가도 직접 불러 지속적인 인기를 유지했습니다. 절

정의 인기에 있던 1980년대 초반에는 많은 여가수들과 듀엣 곡들을 취입.

 

Kim Carnes, Sheena Easton, Dolly Parton 외에도 자기보다 연상의 컨트리 싱어

Dottie West와 짝꿍을 이뤄 'Everytime Two Fools Collide'를 불러 여가수와 가장

잘 어울리는 남자 가수라는 명예를 재확인합니다.

1984년 Kim Carnes, 흑인 싱어 James Ingram과 화음을 맞춘 'What About Me'를

끝으로 지금까지 이렇다 할 싱글 히트곡을 생산하지 못한 그는 2001년 힙합 그룹

Fugees의 멤버였던 Wyclef Jean과 'Buy Me A Lose'를 공개하는 등 현재의 음악 씬을

이해하고 적응하려는 노력을 보여주었습니다.

 

 

이 곡은 80년대 초반 조 영남씨가 "김군에게 보내는 편지"라는

제목으로 번안하여 불렀습니다
