1951년 영국출생. 싱어송 라이터.

'78년 솔로앨범 < Whatever happened to Benny Santini?>로 영국에서는 인기를 

얻었으나 그가 세계적으로 알려지기 시작한 것은 '85년 <Josephine> 이란 노래와

'88년 <On the Beach>를 발표하면서라고 얘기해도 크게 틀린 말이 아니다.

 

'89년 앨범<Road to Hell>은 영국에서는 물론 챠트 1위를 차지했고,

그의 음악성과 개성을 두루 알리게 된 기념비적인 앨범이다.

Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Leonard Cohen 등과 쉽게 비교되기도 하는

그는 그만의 독특한 스타일과 음악성이 있다.

 

대중적이진 않지만 절제된 감성과 우수에 젖은 듯한 허스키한 목소리로 그의

음악을 듣고 있으면 어디론가 훌쩍 떠나고 싶은 생각이 든다....
